Bally’s Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City, turned to Superior Scaffold to get painting crews up to the high end of one of their buildings on the boardwalk.

Crews needed to get all the way to the top of the building above world famous Harry’s Oyster Bar and Sea Food restaurant to finish painting and refinishing, but their high reach couldn’t get them there.

Superior erected a system scaffold around and in between the buildings and over the roof and since crews couldn’t tie in anywhere on the building, diagonal bracing was used throughout to keep everything leaning into the roof. And this scaffold is over 100’ tall!

Now, this wasn’t without its challenges. One of the hardest jobs on the world’s longest boardwalk is getting the material to the job and then up to the elevation itself.

Crews first had to have the Moffet bring material from 2 blocks away and then they had to build an 80’ long ramp to cart the material to the landing spot.  And they could only bring so much material up at a time because the space was limited.

Superior always tries to leave the smallest footprint possible – and this was no exception.  After every morning break and lunch, crews would cart down more material that we needed to do the job.  And crews were literally working in a garden with pine trees all around so the utmost care had to be taken.

The job proved to be a mental challenge as well. You can see there wasn’t much room in between the buildings. We really had to think and plan on what would get crews and the painters to the safe work area up top.

In the end, the painters were able to reach their destination safely without a hitch.   The garden, pine trees and building were untouched.   Bally’s Casino and Hotel is looking as good as new.
