Superior Scaffold erected this two hundred foot long canopy at the Curtis Publishing Building (601 Walnut St., Philadelphia, PA). Once home of prestigious publications like The Saturday Evening Post, Ladies’ Home Journal, Country Gentlemen and more; it’s now a high end office building. Built in 1910, this beautiful structure takes up the entire block just across the way from Independence Hall. It was renovated in 1990 and is currently undergoing an exterior renovation to get it looking as good as new. Superior Scaffold installed a 200 foot long walkway/loading dock with overhead protection right next to the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology building. Superior Scaffold installed a 580 foot long work deck or platform on both sides of the barrel shaped Reading Terminal Market (RTM) to give crews access to replace the roof. The platform is 6 feet wide by 8 feet high by 580 feet long and allows crews to roll their equipment and material from the mast climber at one end to their location anywhere along building. This great looking old structure was known as the Bell Telephone Building back in the day. But in the early 1980's the government broke up what was one of the largest monopolies in US history. This effectively took what was the Bell Telephone System and split it into entirely separate companies that would continue to provide telephone service. They would be known as baby Bells.
