Scaffolding the Metropolitan Opera House, Philadelphia, PA The Metropolitan Opera House or Met located at 858 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia (yes, Philly has a Metropolitan – not just NY) is undergoing a $56 Million restoration as a new Live Nation concert venue. The large building that takes up a full city block at Broad and Poplar Streets is being converted into a 3,500 person venue. Penn Tower Scaffold / Shoring

Massive Scaffolding, Shoring, Mast Climber job at Penn Tower Philadelphia, PA This is a huge scaffold, shoring and mast climber job at the old Penn Tower.  The building is being demolished for the new Hospital Pavilion at the University of Pennsylvania.  Not only did we erect a giant scaffold all around three sides of the exterior…But we also shored up 16 floors at the same time! That’s correct 16 floors at the same time!  And we installed the 3 mast climbers on the opposite side of the building.   It all has a very specific purpose in the overall plan.  Look carefully, into...

This abandoned building is coming back to life.  And what I life it’s had.  This has some absolutely fantastic architecture.  Built back in 1892, the Divine Lorraine is going back to its original function - apartments.  Back then it housed some of Philadelphia’s wealthiest residents and soon will again. Superior Scaffold was brought in as part of the $44 Million redevelopment to provide the scaffolding and shoring support to give crews complete access to the exterior of this 10 story structure. The plan is to create over 100 luxury apartments and 20,000 square feet...

Princeton University, Firestone Library

Princeton University Firestone Library Superior Scaffold was selected to help in the renovation of Princeton's Prestigious Firestone library because of its long history working with historic buildings on the campus. We were one of the few companies there throughout the entire process. The renovation is a long-term project that is being done in multiple phases and will take almost 10 years to finish, during which time the library will remain open, and its collections available during normal hours of operation. Superior erected as system scaffold allowing crews to get access to all areas of this monumental restoration and parapet wall replacement project. The...

Children’s Hospital

Children's Hospital When L.F. Driscoll asked us to design a 90' high, totally enclosed negative pressure wrapped, systems scaffold tower for the front of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, we said "No problem". Then they told us the scaffolding had to be completely free standing (to allow the installation of a continuous glass panel system)! So Superior's engineers designed a 90'high scaffold with 2 attached backup towers (widening and stabilizing the base) which tied only to a roof system of concrete weights. The system was rated to handle high wind loads and provided a safe work environment with a minimum of disruption...
