Sidewalk overhead protection at the Curtis Publishing Company building
Superior Scaffold erected this two hundred foot long canopy at the Curtis Publishing Building (601 Walnut St., Philadelphia, PA). Once home of prestigious publications like The Saturday Evening Post, Ladies’ Home Journal, Country Gentlemen and more; it’s now a high end office building.
Built in 1910, this beautiful structure takes up the entire block just across the way from Independence Hall. It was renovated in 1990 and is currently undergoing an exterior renovation to get it looking as good as new.
The canopy is constructed of system scaffold, aluminum and steel beams, and has netting on the inside and debris panels on top. There is a tunnel that funnels pedestrian traffic towards the main entrance of the building on 6th Street.
Crews are doing restoration work overhead and our sidewalk shed is protecting the pedestrian traffic down below.
Once complete, this building will sparkle like its neighbor across the street.

And for today’s musical number – I wanted to put an earworm in your head.
