Transport Platform for interior renovation at Rodney Court, Wilmington, DE
Superior Scaffold provided our TP-2500 transport platform to crews at the historic Rodney Court apartment building (now Birchwood at Rodney Court) for a complete interior restoration.
This is a pretty cool job for lots of reasons. We had to use system scaffold to reach each level of this six-story building and then deck it in as a sort of landing platform for crews to get their materials in through windows on each floor.
To make it just a little more challenging, we mounted the mast for the transport platform directly to the building on one side and in between the scaffold to the building on the other!
It was a super creative solution to get the best use out of the large car size so sheets of drywall could be transported easily. It also allowed for access to all 3 doors on the transport platform. In this configuration, 3,300 lbs of material or 7 men can be transported.
Crews are doing a total remodel of the inside units (kitchens, bathrooms, etc) and needed a way to get material inside the building at each floor.
This was once one of the premiere apartment buildings built before the great depression. Constructed in 1928 this six-story, L- shaped steel frame building is sheathed in cinder block and faced with light tapestry bricks. It features cast stone trimmings with a classically styled parapet.
It once had a large social hall adjoining a roof-top dance floor and garden. How cool must that have been?
Tony P took things a step further by building an elevated landing platform so equipment could be loaded on and off at two elevations and then he netted the lower level so it would be safer for everyone on the job.
He also put up netting on the surrounding fence to keep this project as non-invasive as possible for the day care next door.
He went even further by mounting the power box on the adjacent wall and then using a piece of scaffold to carry the power cable up and over the walkway keeping it safe and out of the way.
“What an incredible piece of equipment. It worked like a dream and saved us time and money on this resto,” said foreman, Hank Newburn of Ingerman Construction. “And Tony P went above and beyond to accommodate us.” We love to hear that at Superior. Glad we could be of service.
We also installed a debris chute with access ports at every level and then netted it as well.
The old Rodney Court Cooperative apartment complex should be looking good when it gets new life as the Birchwood at Rodney Court senior rental community.

Today’s musical selection comes from a Delaware native and his song seems to fit Tony P and Superior. Enjoy.
