This is a unique one. Take a close look at the photo. What do you see?
This classic looking building was built in 1830. Or was it? Wait. The façade of the building, known as the Pennsylvania Building (Pennsylvania Fire Insurance Company), was built in 1830 but the actual building was demolished in 1971 and the façade was preserved as a screen in front of the newer office building.
But that’s not all folks. Step right up and tell me what else you notice about this building? Got it?
Look at the address. 508-10 Walnut St., crazy – it takes up two spaces with one address. I bet the postmen pull their hair out with that one.
Okay – so what does any of that have to do with Superior Scaffold and the job we did there? Well, here’s the skinny on this job. I’ve got pictures of the overhead protection we provided to keep the building open while crews worked overhead using our swing stages. Now, the cool thing about suspended scaffold we employed there was that we used porch brackets to access the recessed areas. I can only tell you about them and point you to another post that actually shows you what they are because I didn’t get any photos of them in action (I know – lame – sorry – but it does happen from time to time when I get out to shoot photos).
Crews were caulking, patching and repointing the building to make it look glorious again and repair any damage that needed to be fixed.
Now, I can tell you about the canopy we erected out front. It was build using our 767 Philly frames and used our awesome red debris panels and incorporated our wonderful yellow warning banners! But it did keep the building(s) open for business as usual as work went on overhead.
