Scaffold maze in courtyard on Greys Ferry Ave.

I posted this job to show just how creative Superior Scaffold erectors can get when erecting a system scaffold.  This job was for EDA Contractors and we had to get their crew to the roofline of this building without touching the structure or damaging any of the landscaping. This shot sums up how awesome our scaffold erectors are!  They had to do this all around the property to get the scaffold into just the right spot to keep building up to the roof. These photos were taken as the scaffold was going up.  The finished product was decked in solid around the perimeter...

Suspended Scaffold and overhead protection all around 17th and Market!

This is an impressive job!  Not only from a scaffold or access point of view, but on every level.  GC, Clemens Construction really did a great job at 17 Market West transforming this 18 story office tower into luxury units. Originally built in 1957, this complete interior/exterior conversion is a prime example of adaptive reuse, aligning with evolving market demands and sustainable construction practices. Superior Scaffold brought out an army of swing stages to help with the exterior renovation. A total of 14 suspended scaffold units around the building, all helping crews reskin the entire structure and reach areas for adding new steel,...

Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital Helipad Scaffold, shoring and badassery.

Superior Scaffold was called in to build a one-of-kind super structure and all-around awesome cantilever scaffold at the helipad for the emergency department at Einstein Hospital. This baby was getting the complete makeover treatment from new undergarments, hair style and a set of fabulous new clothes so she could wow the world once again with her functional beauty. What that means is that Superior worked with Construction Manager, Target Building, to shore up the underside while they replaced and repaired the structural steel underneath and then put on a brand-new deck and coating system so this helipad functions as well as she...

Superior Scaffold’s debut at the Miller Theater – scaffold, swings, truss and overhead protection!

Superior Scaffold was called in by GC, Clemens Construction, to provide overhead protection and suspended scaffold for the renovation of the Miller Theater, at 250 South Broad Street, within the Avenue of the Arts cultural district of Center City Philadelphia. The Miller Theater is the most prestigious location for touring Broadway shows, so the building needed to look as good as the entertainment it is putting on.  Superior provided the swing stages (suspended scaffold) that crews used to reach every inch of the facade for cleaning, repairing, replacing and repointing. One of the biggest challenges was to span the iconic Miller Theater...

Smokestack Scaffold – Work Deck and Transport Platform

We’ve done many of these and it always amazes me how our guys build them.  And even more amazing is how the restoration crews work up there and accomplish their tasks. In this case, Jon Goodroad and his crew from Joseph Dugan, Inc., called Superior Scaffold to get them up to the top so they could actually remove the top 6 feet of the smokestack, repair the damage, recap it and then restore the remaining parts of the chimney, making it sturdy and safe once again. They originally wanted stairs to get the men to the top of the 80’ tall smokestack....

2 Scaffold Trolley systems at CHOP Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care

Superior Scaffold designed two scaffold trolley systems to help D.M. Sabia place giant stones on the side of the facade for the CHOP Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care. For this particular location, on Health Science Dr., it helped in the speedy, yet safe, movement of large stones up and over the garages in the back - from one end of the building to the other.  Using a hoist to lift the stones up and scaffold beams to trolley the hoist, and the stone, down the line and into place, D.M. Sabia was able to save time and money positioning these...

Scaffolding St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Philadelphia, PA

This one was hard to miss.  If you are a regular in the Rittenhouse Square area – or were just passing through, St. Patrick’s Church has been a fixture here since 1839.  And when one of Philadelphia’s most prestigious old buildings needed major renovation work – who do you think they called?  Superior Scaffold was proud to have been chosen to provide the scaffolding and access work on this historic landmark.  Our decades of experience working with delicate buildings for renovation companies made us the perfect choice when Turner Construction won the contract. This project involved a ton of moving parts, from...

Superior Scaffold wins the 2024 GBCA Construction Excellence Award for Best Specialty Contractor!!!!

Each year the best in the business descend upon the city of Philadelphia to vie for top construction project honors.  And this year, Superior Scaffold took home the prize for the Best Specialty Contractor for our scaffolding work at Rowan University. This is a very cool project (the name gives it away) and you can read the complete blog here. In a nutshell: Superior Scaffold was called in by GC, MPG (Masonry Preservation Group), to help come up with a solution to remove the giant exterior pieces of limestone, label them and then put them back exactly where they should go without...

Transport platform at 1901 Walnut Street in Rittenhouse Square

Here's an awesome project in Rittenhouse Square where they needed to get men and material up to the top floor quickly for terracotta and masonry repair work. Our TP-2500 Transport Platform was just the ticket.  It can be used for a variety applications like painting, windows, masonry, drywall, and more.  This particular unit was just going from the ground to roof. One of the benefits of using a transport platform is that it has two modes and doesn’t require an operator like a regular buckhoist or construction hoist.  Mode number one is a material mode that allows just material to ascend the...

Sharing the work in the City of Brotherly Love. Mast climbers, swings, scaffolding & shoring (6th & Walnut)

They call Philadelphia that for a reason! This was important for me to highlight because it happens more than you would know.  I’m talking about competing firms sharing jobs in the city of Brotherly Love. Sure, we all compete to get as much work as we can but there are times and jobs like these where one company just can’t do all the work.  We are competitive, but in the end, we all want the same thing: A safe, well built, completed project that we all can be proud of. I thank Dale Corp for letting me shed some light on an oft...
