Superior Scaffold at the University of Pennsylvania, Market & 34th

University of Pennsylvania (U of P) is caulking and waterproofing the façade of their building at 3400 Walnut, (Market & 34th) Pennsylvania, PA  19104.    Superior Scaffold provided an intricate sidewalk canopy (sidewalk shed), with overhead protection, 2 blocks long that would allow construction work to go on above while keeping the businesses open underneath.    Superior also provided two suspended scaffolds (swings, swing-stage) to allow crews greater access to all areas of the façade. U of P turned to Superior because of the confidence they have for them to handle the safety requirements and guidelines set up by the city, state, and the university.  Superior...

How to adapt existing system scaffold (Thomas Jefferson University Hospital)

Even the best laid plans get interrupted from time to time.  So was the case at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. The Alumni Hall building on the Jefferson University Hospital campus in Center City has been undergoing some changes to the HVAC system. Superior Scaffold was called out to install scaffolding on the 6th floor rooftop spanning the entire 42 foot long section of roof all the way up the the 9th floor so workers could get up to make piping tie-ins and add insulation. The scaffolding was in place and functioning well when one of the contractors determined that he...

You can read the article here:  Scaffold Industry Magazine   Scaffold Industry Magazine...

Adding Graphics, Banners, and Advertisements to your Scaffolding Project

A capacity crowd of 46,967 braved temperatures in the 30s and intermittent snow flurries to see the visiting New York Rangers edge the Flyers 3-2, when the NHL and Bridgestone Winter Classic came to Citizen's Bank Park, home of baseball's Philadelphia Phillies. But little did the capacity crowd know what it took to get that ice onto the ground.  Weeks of preparation, hard work, and yes, advertising. Advertising?  Yep.  All over the place.  And it's a brilliant way to cover up scaffolding that might be necessary for the "behind the curtain" workings of an event like this. If you recall, Superior Scaffold wrapped the...

Saving Our Lady of Lourdes

TIMELINE OF HOW A SCAFFOLD COMPANY SAVED AN ICON - in less than 24 hours! At 1:51 pm on Wednesday 8/23/11 an earthquake of 5.8 magnitude rocked the east coast.  It was followed by two smaller aftershocks of 2.8 & 2.2.  On the whole, structural damage was fairly limited - given the wide scope of the quake. Immediately, inspectors were sent out to every scaffold job site to make sure nothing had shifted, moved, or changed with the scaffolding around any of the structures.  As the world found out - there were a few national structures that were damaged, such as the...

Getting Press for our company Part 4 – Success story #2 – The Cover of Access Lift & Handlers Magazine.

It’s crazy just how the world works sometime.  We had just gotten our stuff to Vince at SA Magazine and the article hadn’t even come out yet when someone in our office remembered being contacted by Lindsey Anderson over at  Access Lift & Handlers Magazine (part of KHL group).  Again, we turned her name over the Erik who told her about the work we were doing over at Independence Hall.  She was excited when she saw the images.  She even thought that we would get the cover shot of the magazine.  Yeah! So, we went back to the press release and...
