Drexel University, The Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building (ISB)

Drexel University, The Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building (ISB) Superior Scaffold was the company of record to provide scaffold services to this $49.7 million five story, 135,000 square feet, modern marvel that will house 39 research and teaching laboratories for biomedical engineering, biology and chemistry. It also will have a fossil preparation lab. ISB is expected to be LEED silver and Green Globes-certified, partly because of a bio-filter wall, which will be the first of its kind in an American university. The vegetated wall will be nearly 40 feet high and covered in live plants to help purify the air and oxygenate...

Henry Hall, Princeton University

Henry Hall, Princeton University Superior was called in to erect and dismantle a system scaffold for work on a parapet wall. The challenge was to build scaffolding on roofs and provide roof protection on the 200 year old building. Superior also had to deck one solid level around all the parapet walls. We also provided a 1000 pound basket hoist on the job, including all overhead door protection. This scaffolding had a ladder and gate access. Scaffolding that rested on the ground had a plywood base around the perimeter and the rest of the scaffolding had debris netting. The building had to...

Parc Rittenhouse – Cantilever 3 Floors

Parc Rittenhouse Sullivan Construction needed to add three floors to the top of the Parc Rittenhouse building in downtown Philadelphia and knew of Superior's experience with high exposure cantilever scaffolds. We had successfully completed a 10th floor cantilever system around three sides of Philadelphia's historic Victory Building. Utilizing shoring towers inside and aluminum beams jutting out the windows, Superior was able to lay a solid work deck around the entire 17th floor of the building. We then erected a 45' high systems scaffold to allow worker access to each of the floors as they were constructed....

Children’s Hospital

Children's Hospital When L.F. Driscoll asked us to design a 90' high, totally enclosed negative pressure wrapped, systems scaffold tower for the front of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, we said "No problem". Then they told us the scaffolding had to be completely free standing (to allow the installation of a continuous glass panel system)! So Superior's engineers designed a 90'high scaffold with 2 attached backup towers (widening and stabilizing the base) which tied only to a roof system of concrete weights. The system was rated to handle high wind loads and provided a safe work environment with a minimum of disruption...
