Independence Hall is complete!

And boy does she look great.  As you all know by now Superior Scaffold got the opportunity of a lifetime to provide the system scaffold and scrim on the historic structure.  And now she’s ready for her close up.  I did notice a few spots that are waiting for some custom carpentry but for the most part she is back to her former glory. I won’t bore you with details – just have a look.    Congratulations to everyone involved with the Independence Hall renovation.  She looks great!  ...

Superior Scaffold helps with the renovation of M. Night Shyamalan’s Old House

Okay – now I know you are probably asking yourself why on earth are we blogging about this?  And you have a point - but when you see the scope of the renovation that Ray Starzman and Chase Building Group undertook for this exterior re-invention, you will understand.  Just look at the pictures.      Not only did Superior Scaffold provide the many system scaffolds all around the residence, but they also did an entire enclosure on the house while the work was going on!  This kept the debris trapped and the workers very happy during the cold winter months.  It also provided...

Scaffold and Access Industry Magazine prints article about Superior and Our Lady of Lourdes

Superior Scaffold is in the center of the latest issue of SA Magazine for the work we did on Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.  As we blogged before, it was all about how we secured the beloved statue on top of the building after the earthquake.  Props go out to Gina Kellogg of SAIM - she did a great job! You can read the article here:  Scaffold Industry Magazine   Scaffold Industry Magazine...

Adding Graphics, Banners, and Advertisements to your Scaffolding Project

A capacity crowd of 46,967 braved temperatures in the 30s and intermittent snow flurries to see the visiting New York Rangers edge the Flyers 3-2, when the NHL and Bridgestone Winter Classic came to Citizen's Bank Park, home of baseball's Philadelphia Phillies. But little did the capacity crowd know what it took to get that ice onto the ground.  Weeks of preparation, hard work, and yes, advertising. Advertising?  Yep.  All over the place.  And it's a brilliant way to cover up scaffolding that might be necessary for the "behind the curtain" workings of an event like this. If you recall, Superior Scaffold wrapped the...

Video Tour of the Virgin Mary Statue on top of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGyQT5xBYLs Here is a video tour of the scaffolding and the Mother Mary statue on top of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, NJ. It clearly shows the damage that the earthquake did to her as well as the necessary guy-wires to hold her down in case of aftershocks. Superior Scaffold had to transport all of the scaffolding materials through a maze in the hospital and even assemble most of the sections on a lower roof and then hoist them up where they could be put into place. You can see the difficulties in just getting to the statue...

Virgin Mary statue taken down for repairs

Superior Scaffold was called back to Our Lady of Lourdes to add another level of scaffolding to the existing structure so crews could more easily remove the sections of the statue of the Mother Mary. It has been taken down in sections and sent off for repair.  As you know, it was damaged in the earthquake.   I've compiled a few of the news stories here  - including a CBS news clip in which you can see the damage directly after the earthquake and the day before Superior's emergency response team raced in and secured her in place.   http://www.flickr.com/photos/65584817@N08/6322633281/   Virgin Mary Statue Atop Lourdes Hospital...

Saving Our Lady of Lourdes

TIMELINE OF HOW A SCAFFOLD COMPANY SAVED AN ICON - in less than 24 hours! At 1:51 pm on Wednesday 8/23/11 an earthquake of 5.8 magnitude rocked the east coast.  It was followed by two smaller aftershocks of 2.8 & 2.2.  On the whole, structural damage was fairly limited - given the wide scope of the quake. Immediately, inspectors were sent out to every scaffold job site to make sure nothing had shifted, moved, or changed with the scaffolding around any of the structures.  As the world found out - there were a few national structures that were damaged, such as the...
