Superior Scaffold helps install innovative solar array over Camden County Wastewater Treatment Plant.

In a first of a kind move, the Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority (CCMUA) of New Jersey embraced the growing need for renewable energy by installing a giant array of solar panels over the Camden, NJ water treatment plant.  The panels will provide enough power to run the day-to-day operations of the plant (producing more than 2.2 million kilowatt hours each year in energy offsetting production costs.)    These arrays will enable the company to become more cost efficient and reduce the carbon footprint needed to treat wastewater.     The Challenge Superior scaffold’s challenge was to devise a way for the crews to install the...

Superior starts work at Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr, PA

Superior Scaffold has assisted with this type of surgical maneuver in and around elevator shafts many times.  This time, it just so happens to be at the Bryn Mawr Hospital  where iron workers need to install and weld new structural steel as part of the new addition to the hospital. Some of these pics show what's going on in the 4th floor elevator shafts where crews cut holes into the shaft walls to install aluminum joists that would span the opening.  Then they had to deck in over the joists to make safe platforms so crews could complete their work. ...

Superior helps Academy of Music keep its 155th-anniversary Concert and Ball – Rolling

It was a slightly different Saturday night in January at the Academy of Music's 155th Anniversary party.  But this year the honored guests didn't leave to enjoy the entertainment - they stayed for the entire event. Thanks in part to Superior Scaffold and grand sales master Tony Pini, a special stage was extended all the way into the house with a floor that was built from the stage level to the  low rise of the theater, over the orchestra seats.  And for the first time, this allowed the guests to spread out and party all in one location. Built using system scaffold, planking...

Adding Graphics, Banners, and Advertisements to your Scaffolding Project

A capacity crowd of 46,967 braved temperatures in the 30s and intermittent snow flurries to see the visiting New York Rangers edge the Flyers 3-2, when the NHL and Bridgestone Winter Classic came to Citizen's Bank Park, home of baseball's Philadelphia Phillies. But little did the capacity crowd know what it took to get that ice onto the ground.  Weeks of preparation, hard work, and yes, advertising. Advertising?  Yep.  All over the place.  And it's a brilliant way to cover up scaffolding that might be necessary for the "behind the curtain" workings of an event like this. If you recall, Superior Scaffold wrapped the...

New Copper Swages or Ferrules for Suspended Scaffold wire ropes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkAl5lSL1Fo Our Superior Scaffold Suspended expert tells us about the new copper swages. Why they are stronger, safer, and better than traditional bolt on ferrules or fist grips for wire ropes and tie-downs. Very simply put - time and safety.  Traditionally, you had to make sure each of your fist grips were tightened sufficiently before getting to work.  With these new copper swages you are safe and secure and working the minute you hit the job site. Another helpful hint from Superior Scaffold.  Also see scaffolding...

Video Tour of the Virgin Mary Statue on top of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGyQT5xBYLs Here is a video tour of the scaffolding and the Mother Mary statue on top of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, NJ. It clearly shows the damage that the earthquake did to her as well as the necessary guy-wires to hold her down in case of aftershocks. Superior Scaffold had to transport all of the scaffolding materials through a maze in the hospital and even assemble most of the sections on a lower roof and then hoist them up where they could be put into place. You can see the difficulties in just getting to the statue...
