Reading Terminal Market (East Side) An intricate maze of scaffold
This is one of those jobs that blows my mind. It’s not huge, but it took a lot of ingenuity to get it done. Premier Building Restoration is renovating the entire exterior of the Reading Terminal Market and this side has been challenging, to say the least.
We won the prestigious GBCA Scaffold Project of the Year award for our work a little to the left of this job. You can read all about it here.
In that job, we had to create a suspended scaffold rig that sat on the parking garage next door. On this job, we had to erect system scaffold in and around all of the HVAC units, duct work and electrical boxes that run the market, in a tiny space in between the two buildings.
We put work decks close enough to the facade for crews to do their magic renovations. But in order to support those work decks, our guys had to squeeze a maze of scaffolding in between the buildings, from the ground up and around all of the HVAC units. Just look at some of these pictures.
Rising from the ground like errant steam pipes, our system scaffold each has its place to support and hold the work decks above.
Here, you can see the final decks at the upper portion of the Reading Terminal that allow crews access to every inch of the facade.
Just an amazing scaffold job. We are working with Premier on the West side of the building as well, the more heavily trafficked side of the Reading Terminal. We will detail that job in a following post.
