Scaffolding Sculpture

Artist Ben Long’s ‘Scaffolding Sculptures’ are series of three-dimensional constructions made from conventional scaffolding components.  By using these builder’s materials out of their everyday context, Long creates meanings and symbols an audience would not normally expect.  In this exhibit he creates the words Art and Work. The word ‘ART’ embodies the creative thought-process inherent in the conception of a piece as well as the practical skill required to physically make it. Likewise, the word ‘WORK’ describes not only the intellectual endeavor in pursuit of a final idea, but also the effort involved in an artwork’s construction. By separating the word ‘artwork’ into its...

Superior Scaffold was selected to help in the renovation of Princeton’s Prestigious Firestone library because of its long history working with historic buildings on the campus. In light of the library’s importance in teaching and research at Princeton, the University has committed to a comprehensive renovation of Firestone Library. Superior’s emergency scaffold services at Cooper Medical School, Camden, NJ

Superior was called out to scaffold the auditorium in the new Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, in Camden, NJ so lights could be repaired and installed. The challenge here was that all of the auditorium seats had been placed into their permanent locations prior to fixing the lighting issues so Superior designed rolling scaffold to access and repair the malfunctioning lights - and to work around the seating.     "Superior Scaffold and our emergency services team quickly assessed the problem and quickly came up with a mighty fine solution,” said estimator, Pat McAndrew. Rowan University and Cooper University Hospital have embarked on a unique...

New addition at Chester County Hospital calls for Superior scaffolding

Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA is embarking on a $45.2 million building project to increase inpatient bed capacity with 72 new private rooms and to install a new, state-of-the-art linear accelerator for the treatment of cancer.       As part of the plan, the Chester County Hospital and Health System called in Superior Scaffold to help work on the 93,000 sq. ft. Tower Project at 701 East Marshall Street. The scaffolding, constructed on top of the first floor's roof, allows crews to get to the floors above it to remove the skin (facade) and expose the steel to tie into.  The new addition...

Adding Graphics, Banners, and Advertisements to your Scaffolding Project

A capacity crowd of 46,967 braved temperatures in the 30s and intermittent snow flurries to see the visiting New York Rangers edge the Flyers 3-2, when the NHL and Bridgestone Winter Classic came to Citizen's Bank Park, home of baseball's Philadelphia Phillies. But little did the capacity crowd know what it took to get that ice onto the ground.  Weeks of preparation, hard work, and yes, advertising. Advertising?  Yep.  All over the place.  And it's a brilliant way to cover up scaffolding that might be necessary for the "behind the curtain" workings of an event like this. If you recall, Superior Scaffold wrapped the...

Saving Our Lady of Lourdes

TIMELINE OF HOW A SCAFFOLD COMPANY SAVED AN ICON - in less than 24 hours! At 1:51 pm on Wednesday 8/23/11 an earthquake of 5.8 magnitude rocked the east coast.  It was followed by two smaller aftershocks of 2.8 & 2.2.  On the whole, structural damage was fairly limited - given the wide scope of the quake. Immediately, inspectors were sent out to every scaffold job site to make sure nothing had shifted, moved, or changed with the scaffolding around any of the structures.  As the world found out - there were a few national structures that were damaged, such as the...

Independence Hall Update – 10.4.11

Well, things are surely coming along at the Independence Hall Tower.  Crews have really done a terrific job getting the spire repainted, the ball and weather vane re-guilded, the roof flashing in place.  It's looks great.  They have even taken most of the decorative urns down to have them repainted as well.   I saw it with my own eyes.  It's been a good 6 months since I was last up on the scaffold.  I do have photos and will post them up tomorrow.   We got to see inside the bell housing as well.  They have put new metal...

Getting Press for our company Part 4 – Success story #2 – The Cover of Access Lift & Handlers Magazine.

It’s crazy just how the world works sometime.  We had just gotten our stuff to Vince at SA Magazine and the article hadn’t even come out yet when someone in our office remembered being contacted by Lindsey Anderson over at  Access Lift & Handlers Magazine (part of KHL group).  Again, we turned her name over the Erik who told her about the work we were doing over at Independence Hall.  She was excited when she saw the images.  She even thought that we would get the cover shot of the magazine.  Yeah! So, we went back to the press release and...

How we got Press for our Company – Part 3 (Success)

Everyone will tell you, that in business you need a bit of luck once in a while – and this was no different.  We had everything together and ready to go but who would we get it to? And as bit of luck would have it, while going through our contacts, we remembered an email we had gotten from Vince Brennan, the editor at Scaffold Industry Magazine a few months prior, asking what we had going on.  Bam.  We gave Erik Highland, our photographer and marketing guy,  Vince’s name and number and said – “have it him.”,  which he obviously did,...
