Access, Lift & Handlers magazine features two Superior Scaffold jobs

ALH Magazine featured two of Superior Scaffold's recent jobs.  The first was our work with Metropolitan Opera House - or Met.  It was quite a large project culminating in a work deck that was approximately 75 feet high.  Click here or on either picture to read the entire article or here to see our original blogpost. And the second article features our work at The Residences at Mid-Town Park at 9th & Orange, Wilmington, DE.  We had our new TP-2500 transport platform and several mast climbers there giving crews all access to this new building construction. Swarthmore College, Hicks Hall mural removal

Most of the time when people tell you “out with the old and in with the new” it’s a good thing. Technology has advanced, building practices are more efficient, materials are better – you name it. And they are usually right. But sometimes when you are making that switch something from the past grabs you and holds on. Maybe it’s a memory from an era long gone or maybe the craftsmanship is unparalleled or just maybe there is something unique and one of a kind about it. Which is what we have here. You see, while Swarthmore College was preparing to...

The Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia comes to life!

The Metropolitan Opera House or Met located at 858 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia (yes, Philly has a Metropolitan – not just NY) is undergoing a $56 Million restoration as a new Live Nation concert venue. The beautiful building has been sitting vacant for years. The 39,200-square foot theater was built in 1908 by Oscar Hammerstein I and called the Philadelphia Opera House. When it first opened in it was home to the Philadelphia Opera Company and sat some 4000 people as the largest venue of its kind in the world. In 1910 Hammerstein sold it to the Metropolitan Opera of New...

Superior Scaffold congratulates the Super Bowl LII champion Eagles!

What an unbelievable game it was! And what a season this has been! I’ll admit I’m normally not a huge football fan but how can you not get fired up watching the Eagles overcome adversity and go on to win the Super Bowl! What made me an Eagles fan? Well, it started back in October with a special tour through the Link and an opportunity to meet resident badass, defensive end, Brandon Graham. https://youtu.be/msafVeGHaRc And it was his strip sack of Tom Brady that pretty much sealed the win! He’s a super nice guy and one heck of a player. And then we got a tour...

Rollin’ – 13th and Market – Canopies and Doublewide Swing stages

Rollin’ rollin’ rollin’ Though the streams are swollen Keep them doggies rolling Rawhide Rain and wind and weather Hell bent for leather Wishing my girl was by my side All the things I'm missin’ Good victuals, love and kissin’ Are waiting at the end of my ride It’s our job at Superior Scaffold to keep things rollin’. What do I mean by that? Well, when you have a business smack in the middle of the busiest part of town and you have a complete restoration going on overhead – you don’t want anything to stop. You want to keep those sidewalks open for all of the pedestrian traffic possible. I will...

Superior Scaffold – Can’t Touch This!

At first glance, this mixed bag of tricks seems as fresh as a pair of MC Hammer pants. It looks like they used as many different access disciplines as possible to protect and erect a structure. But further examination proves otherwise. When they decided to erect an apartment complex where the old parking lot used to be they didn't think they would have to work around one lone structure. And part of the deal was that they couldn't touch that building at all. So what do you do? You bust a move and call Superior Scaffold and we come up with a legit...

Bend Me, Shape me – Superior Scaffold swings at the CityView Condos

Who would have thought that the 1960’s cult hit from the band The American Breed would have been a perfect fit for this suspended scaffold job at the CityView Condos.  But once you see what Superior Scaffold can do with modular swing stages you will understand the significance of,  “Bend me, Shape Me”.   Every now and then you run into a job that doesn’t have a flat surface – like here at 2001 Hamilton St, Philadelphia, PA 19130.  The building is unique, in that, it has 45 degree corners.  This poses a challenge for most contractors trying to do any...

Superior Scaffold at Frick Laboratory, Princeton University, NJ

Superior Scaffold was called out to the Frick Laboratory at Princeton University to build scaffolding for crews to get access to the 3 floors of the structure.  Crews will then install trash chutes so they can demo the entire interior of the building.    Princeton University officials say that the former Frick lab will remain vacant until renovation funds become available. The Frick Lab is named after industrialist and art patron Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919).  The lab, built in 1929, housed the academic chemistry facilities for over 83 years making it one of the oldest functioning labs in the United States. It has been...
