Lift me up, Scaffolding Alumni Hall, Villanova University
It’s our job at Superior Scaffold to lift people up; not only physically but emotionally as well. Clients will tell you that our crews are all about solving problems and being upbeat and positive even in the face of adversity. It’s why we have the best guys in the business.
Well, this job was no different. We had to provide crews access to the dome and cross on top of Alumni Hall, in the heart of the campus at Villanova University.
Alumni Hall is the oldest building on Villanova’s campus. It was originally constructed in 1848. It serves as a great backdrop for events on the Campus Green and Mendel Field.
Villanova University is a Roman Catholic institution of higher learning founded by the Order of Saint Augustine in 1842. Within this suburban campus close to Philadelphia, Villanova provides a comprehensive education rooted in the liberal arts; a shared commitment to the Augustinian ideals of truth, unity and love; and a community dedicated to service to others.
And in this day and age, who can’t appreciate the Augustinian ideals of truth, unity and love? Maybe another gigantic institution should revisit these? Did I just type that? Well, am I really that far off? Just like Villanova University, Superior crews embody these ideals and also help lift people every day.
Just look at this beautiful scaffold. Don’t get me wrong, the dome and cross are works of art too but what our guys did to get painting crews to the top is magnificent. The scaffolding is system scaffold approximately 50’ high up to the dome and the diameter around the dome was roughly 30’ by 25’ high. We erected the stair tower and then bridged across to the roof where crews built the scaffold around the dome and decked it in at every level. I just love way our guys can build all around a delicate object without touching it.
We gave crews access to the entire dome and cross and in turn they really knocked it out. We are proud of our relationship with Villanova University and always support the Wildcats. We thank everyone who has had a part in this job. We can’t wait for the official unveiling in the upcoming weeks.
