Suspended Scaffold and overhead protection all around 17th and Market!
This is an impressive job! Not only from a scaffold or access point of view, but on every level. GC, Clemens Construction really did a great job at 17 Market West transforming this 18 story office tower into luxury units.
Originally built in 1957, this complete interior/exterior conversion is a prime example of adaptive reuse, aligning with evolving market demands and sustainable construction practices.
Superior Scaffold brought out an army of swing stages to help with the exterior renovation.
A total of 14 suspended scaffold units around the building, all helping crews reskin the entire structure and reach areas for adding new steel, support, glass and more.
We also provided a sidewalk overhead protection system (sidewalk shed) all around the perimeter of the building for pedestrian protection.
And in places this was double-wide to accommodate the pedestrian traffic in and around the area.
But let’s get back to the swings.

They got some truly amazing shots of everything that went on during the renovation.
This video shows many of the swings we provided all over the building. Check it out. It’s very cool!
You can see the roof rigging we had at the top of the building as well as many of the swings hanging below.
And that was one of the biggest challenges; coordinating the moving of all of the rigging, tie-backs, pig-tails and power chords to work with Clemens and other trades around the building.
The second video Clemens shot features the crane and pool going onto the roof.
This job is now completed but we were there for almost two years with our canopy/overhead protection systems, suspended scaffold, and scaffolding helping provide access to multiple trades on the project.
