What’s Vegas got to do with this dome in Philadelphia, PA? Well, I’ll tell you. We went to Vegas for a Scaffold Builder’s Challenge and the only thing I wanted to see was the U2 show at the new venue – the Sphere! A 2.3 billion dollar, with a B, cinema/audio experience that’s supposed to be like nothing else. When I first walked on site to take the pictures of the Dell Music Center, I was blown away. I have never seen anything quite like the many steel tie-backs, like marionette strings, holding a scaffold down. Lucy the Elephant, the six-story tall piece of zoomorphic architecture located in Margate, NJ, is a national landmark constructed of wood and tin sheeting featuring several rooms accessed through staircases in her legs. Here is a really cool and really long hanging bridge scaffold job on the Spring Garden Street bridge in Philadelphia, PA. It’s a 690 foot-long highway bridge that crosses the Schuylkill river below Fairmont Dam. It connects West Philadelphia to the Philadelphia Museum of art and Benjamin Franklin Parkway. A more appropriate title would be: Sucking Old Life Out of 4601 Market. Say what? The former Provident Mutual Life Insurance campus is going to be turned into a new headquarters for the Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Health Department, and City Morgue. As part of the redevelopment, Superior Scaffold is providing scaffolding support for the negative air enclosures. Yep, you heard correctly.
