Saint Mark's Church, at 1625 Locust St., is undergoing some renovations and called Superior for the scaffold support and access it needed. The church was founded in 1847 and actually built between 1848 and 1849 and as an historic building needed the utmost care when completing said renovations. Superior Scaffold has a long history of exemplary work on historic buildings and structures in the tri-state area so they were the logical choice. Crews install new hand-cut, Golden Jerusalem Limestone stairs at the Rodeph Shalom synagogue. The challenge was how to get the 25 treads, at 800 pounds each and 8 feet long, from their shipping crates set onto the staircase inside the building. The solution, from Superior Scaffold, came in the form of two high-load scaffold towers with an 18’ long steel beam running in between them, then incorporating a Hi Tech Patriot 1000 cable hoist to do the lifting. A more appropriate title would be: Sucking Old Life Out of 4601 Market. Say what? The former Provident Mutual Life Insurance campus is going to be turned into a new headquarters for the Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Health Department, and City Morgue. As part of the redevelopment, Superior Scaffold is providing scaffolding support for the negative air enclosures. Yep, you heard correctly. I love to see our guys get creative with a scaffolding design. Superior Scaffold was called out to provide a system scaffold and containment wrap (enclosure) so crews could demo the front of this store and remodel it – during the winter months.
