The Metropolitan Opera House or Met located at 858 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia (yes, Philly has a Metropolitan – not just NY) is undergoing a $56 Million restoration as a new Live Nation concert venue. The beautiful building has been sitting vacant for years. The 39,200-square foot theater was built in 1908 by Oscar Hammerstein I and called the Philadelphia Opera House. This is one of those jobs where I can let the pictures do the talking. It's a giant project and just seeing the scope is inspiring. The Pavilion will be a new hospital facility that will house 500 private patient rooms and 47 operating rooms in a 1.5 million square foot, 17-story facility. These are the kind of jobs that intrigue me. It’s not huge but it’s very cool and was designed for a unique purpose. Superior Scaffold was brought in to help Philly D&M solve a problem. They needed more room to fly pre-fabricated wall panels up with a crane and then land them somewhere so there was enough room to lean them over and pull them inside onto the floor where they could be placed. There comes a time in every man's life when they reach the pinnacle of their career and this is it for Superior Scaffold's very own estimator, Pat McAndrew. The good people at the GBCA and Construction Today Magazine have published an article about one of his jobs! Admittedly, this is one really cool project. We've got scaffolding 5 stories high inside the Forrest Theater erected around the audience seats.
